Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
For those of you used to the 70 pound 26" CRT-based television sets from the old days, you'll be shocked when you easily pull this 17 pound LCD-based television from the box. The TV can be quickly unpacked, maneuvered, and installed by one person without needing any assistance. Start out by placing the set upside down on a soft area to install the tabletop base with four screws. That's the end of the construction process. Now place the set in your desired location, hook up your antenna (remembering that over-the-air HDTV is of wonderful quality in many locations) and any other sources (including HDMI sources), and finally connect the output terminals to your home stereo if you desire.

Put the provided AAA batteries into the remote and turn on the TV. It instantly turns on and begins scanning for channels, a process which takes a couple of minutes. I encountered no difficulties with this initial setup. Menu items allow you to adjust the video and audio quality... Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set this up, it was simply a matter of attaching the base, connecting a few wires and plugging it in. The set scanned the cable system while I inserted the batteries into the remote, we finished about the same time and I was ready to start watching TV. The hardest part of the whole thing was getting the heavy monster it replaced out of the way.

The picture is quite clear, the color and sound are both good. The DVD works well (for the most part), the controls on the remote are fairly intuitive. I had been a bit concerned about the size of the set, the one it replaced was just slightly larger but even so I can still see the set quite clearly from across the room (about 20 feet). So far the only problem I have had has been that it hung up on the DVD one time. I could not get the set to return to the regular viewing mode even after removing the DVD, and turning the set off, then back on etc. The problem was solved by... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Competent 2nd set, June 16, 2011

It is uncanny how television technology has advanced in just the last three years alone. If it all seems like incrementalism, from 720p to 1080p, 120hz, wide angle LCD's and thinner profiles, the end result is television sets that are affordable, but rival what was top of the class just a couple of years earlier.

This set represents a beginning edge of that curve, with very middle of the road features competently executed. You do not get state of the art motion compensation, ultra high refresh rates, thinner profiles, led backlighting and so on. What you do get a a decent television at a reasonable price.

Connectivity is, in the same middle of the road vein, good enough. You get two HDMI inputs, s-video/composite, antenna and component. You do not get VGA (unlike what is said in the description), but probably won't miss it. The television has an ATSC/Analog tuner for receiving either unencrypted cable television or over the air signals. The connectors are split... Read more
